Fighting Climate Change

Risalpur: To play their part in fighting the constant challenges we are facing with regards to climate change, students of Beaconhouse Risalpur proposed a way to improve the environment of their city’s cantonment.

The proposal was presented to Garrison Commander Maj Gen Jamil Masud and other higher authorities asking for their support in execution of this initiative in Risalpur Cantonment. The effort was appreciated by the garrison commander and he ensured full support in its implementation.

As a part of their Climate Change Education Programme, the students proposed that eco-friendly biodegradable, reusable and washable shopping bags replace the usual polythene bags.

The students also educated others about the impact of different materials on environment, emphasising the need to reduce, reuse and recycle things that are in common use. The branch introduced the use of separate bins for plastic, paper, glass and organic materials. To reduce the levels of carbon dioxide gas in our atmosphere, Beaconhouse Risalpur hosted a plantation drive in which students actively participated.
